Tubes, Cut to Length Product
form
Tubes, cut to length, are segments cut of from woven, ultrasonically
welded or heat-slit tubes. Laser cutting provides heat-sealed,
non-fraying edges. Diameters range from 2 to 80 mm, lengths
range from 10 to 500 mm.
Cold cutting provides non-sealed edges that may fray. Diameters
range from 80 mm to
125 mm, lengths range from 10 to 1000 mm.
Make-up
Tube segments can be made either by cold or laser cut. The choice
is determined by the required edge quality. |

Tubes, Heat-Slit
Product form
Fabrics, single and multilayer,
can be heat-slit into tube configurations. Tubes are made by
slitting two layers of fabric together with a heated knife,
creating two flat seams at either side of the tube. Heat-slit
fabric edges are melted or fused together to increase durability
and decrease fraying. The heat-slit seam has a limited strength
and should be used as a transport seam only, e.g. for injection
molding.
All fabrics with thread diameters < 250 µm and mesh
openings < 500 µm can be heat slit . Heat-slit tubes
are defined by the inner diameter which is tested with a mandrel:
tube diameters range from 8 - 320 mm . |

The inner diameter of the heat-slit
tube does not equal the flat width of the the tube itself. The
effect of welded "wings" on either side has to be
taken into consideration; the width depends on the mesh type.
Make-up
Tubes are wound onto standard cores:
polyester discs have an inner square hole
30 x 30 mm and an outer diameter of 61 mm. Upon request tubes
can also be rolled onto special cores: An ABS ring having an
inner diameter of 76 mm (3"). Depending on fabric type
and tube dimensions, roll length of up to 500 m are possible. |

Tubes, Us-Welded
Product form
Fabrics, single and multilayer,
can be ultrasonically welded into tube configurations. Tubes
are made with one overlapping ultrasonic weld. Welds are accurate,
clean and are made without the introduction of secondary material
to the weld.
All fabrics with thread diameters < 250 µm and mesh
openings < 500 µm can be ultrasonically welded, tube
diameters range from 2 - 250 mm.
Make-up
Tubes are wound onto standard cores:
Polyester discs have an inner square hole
30 x 30 mm and an outer diameter of 61 mm.
Depending on fabric type and tube dimensions, roll length of
up to 700 m are possible. |

Tubes, Bags
Product form
Flat bags can be made of one
or several fabric layers, for example to achieve a combination
of filter and support layer.
Bags are determined by flat width or diameter and height in
mm. Max. diameter is 160 mm, max. flat width is 250 mm, max.
height is
420 mm.
Make-up
Bags are made from ultrasonically welded tubes. The
bottom seam of the bag is produced after tubing by ultrasonic
welding. The flat bag is then cut into length by either cold-
or laser-cut to length. |

Ribbons
Product form
Fabrics, single or multilayer,
can be heat- or ultrasonically-slit into ribbon form.
Heat-slitting produces a melted, closed edge and is possible
for all fabrics with the exception of PTFE fabrics. Ribbon width
ranges from
7 mm to 2400 mm.
Ultrasonic-slitting produces a closed edge with very little
material build-up at the edge.
Ribbon widths ranges from 4 mm to 700 mm. |

Make-up
For widths up to 300 mm, ribbons are wound onto polyester discs
with an inner square hole
30 x 30 mm and an outer diameter of 61 mm. Upon request ribbons
can also be rolled onto ABS rings with an inner diameter of
76 mm (3"). Ribbons which are wider than 300 mm are wound
onto polystyrene tubes with an inner diameter of 76 mm (3").
Depending on fabric type and tube dimensions, roll lengths of
up to 700 m are possible. |

Shapes, Stamped Pieces
Product form
Stamped pieces are conveniant
for insert molding and are made from Sefar fabrics by a cold,
laser or ultrasonic stamping process.
Cold stamping is the most economical process and provides standard-tolerance
pieces with edges that are not sealed and therefore might fray.
Cold stamping is possible for all fabrics. Piece dimensions
range up to 1000 x 1000 mm.
Laser stamping provides a heat-sealed edge. Maximum dimensions
are 480 x 480 mm.
Ultrasonic stamping ensures tight tolerances, for fabrics with
mesh openings < 400 microns. Ultrasonic-stamping provides
high-quality sealed edges which do not fray. Stamped discs with
a diameter range of 6 to 95 mm are possible. Multilayer pieces
are possible. |

Pleated Elements
Product form
Pleated elements are ribbons
which have been pleated together, and then cut to a defined
number of pleats. The individual fabric layers are simultaneously
cut and welded together on their longitudinal side during the
ultrasonic slitting. The cutting to a defined number of pleats
is done by ultrasonic slitting.
Depending on the selected fabrics, up to
5 layers can be pleated together. Pleat width ranges from 25
to 1200 mm; pleat height ranges from 6mm (one layer) or 8 mm
(multilayer) to
50 mm; pleat counts are unlimited.
The position of the individual fabric layers, the specification
of the filter side and also the number of pleats are all very
important and therefore have to be defined precisely. |

Continuous Pleated Elements
Product form
Continuous pleated elements are
ribbons which have been pleated together and then cut off after
a defined number of pleats. These pleated elements are then
ultrasonically welded together to form a cylinder. The individual
fabric layers are simultaneously cut and welded together on
their longitudinal side during the ultrasonic slitting. The
cutting to a defined number of pleats is done by ultrasonic
cutting.
Depending on the selected fabrics, up to
5 layers can be pleated together. Pleat width ranges from 25
to 380 mm; pleat height ranges from 8 to 25 mm; up to 100 pleat
counts are possible.
The position of the individual fabric layers,
the specification of the filter side and also the number of
pleats are all very important and therefore have to be defined

Semi-finished Components
Product form
Adhesive filter components are
made by combining fabrics with one or several adhesive layers
or alternatively with a dispenser tape.
The fabric pieces are cold- or laser-stamped into single rings,
double rings or customer-specific shapes. Laser-stamped parts
can be supplied having max. dimensions of 480 x 480 mm. Cold
stamped parts can be supplied having max. dimensions of 120
x 120 mm.
Adhesive filter components can be supplied with a one-sided
or a double-sided adhesive layer. These fabrics parts have the
advantage that they can be joined quickly and efficiently to
any housing or other component. |

Adhesive filter components can also be supplied on a dispenser
tape without any adhesive backing. These products have the advantage
that they can be transported and handled easily in automated
assembly systems.
Make-up
Adhesive filter components, either having adhesive layers or
on a dispenser tape, are supplied on a backing tape and are
wound onto cores having a diameter of 6 inches (152.4 mm). |
